Unix Shells are for those who are looking for more then just irc. You are allowed to run anything on these shells and pay only for the amount of bandwidth and disk space you require.
XDCC Shells are actually Unix shells with with unmetered bandwidth. You are allowed to setup your file serving bot of choice and have it connect to IRC and begin serving to users in any channel.
Torrent Shells are used primarily to seed or download torrents quickly. just start up the torrent of your choice and either seed or have it download the files quicker then you can at home and have them waiting for you to download at your convenience via FTP.
